Award-Winning Design Studio Mezza—Maiso Expands Internationally in Luxury Interiors and Hospitality

Vienna, Austria, July 20th, 2026, FinanceWire

Mezza—Maiso, the award-winning Vienna-based bureau for interior architecture, design, and culture, is strengthening its international presence within the evolving luxury interiors market. Founded in 2021 by Verena Wohlkönig and Jürgen Hamberger, the studio works across high-end private residences, boutique hospitality, selected holiday homes, branded residences, and collectible design.

As expectations around luxury continue to evolve, Mezza—Maiso is responding to a growing demand for interiors that offer more than visual appeal. Private clients, hospitality operators, and developers are increasingly seeking spaces that express identity, create emotional connection, and deliver lasting value. The studio's work combines technical precision, material expertise, craftsmanship, and cultural awareness to create interiors designed to be lived in, experienced, and remembered.

"Interior architecture is becoming a strategic part of how people live, host, retreat, invest, and build identity," said Jürgen Hamberger, Co-Founder and Design Director of Mezza—Maiso. "For private clients, hospitality operators, and developers, a thoughtfully designed interior is no longer just a visual layer. It creates atmosphere, value, recognition, and long-term emotional connection."

This philosophy is reflected across the studio's growing portfolio. One of its most recognized hospitality projects, NILS am See, a boutique hotel on Lake Neusiedl, translates the landscape of the lake into a carefully considered guest experience through natural materials, refined detailing, curated artwork, and a distinctive lighting concept. The project has received several international honors, including the German Design Award 2025, Iconic Award 2024, and the European Big See Design Award 2024.

In the residential sector, Haute—Étage, a private penthouse overlooking Vienna, demonstrates the studio's ability to create highly personal interiors that balance architecture, materiality, bespoke furniture, collectible objects, and everyday living. The project was also recognized with the German Design Award 2026 in the Interior Architecture – Residential category.

Beyond individual projects, Mezza—Maiso views interior architecture as a discipline that creates long-term value. In hospitality, interiors influence how guests experience and remember a destination. In private residences, they translate personal identity into spaces that feel refined, comfortable, and deeply individual. For branded residences, interior architecture becomes an essential link between architecture, lifestyle, service, and brand perception.

This integrated approach has positioned the studio as a trusted partner for clients seeking interiors that are both aesthetically distinctive and commercially relevant. Mezza—Maiso brings together creative direction, interior architecture, lighting design, furniture and object curation, material concepts, art selection, and execution coordination into one cohesive process.

"As a studio, we are interested in interiors that have substance," said Verena Wohlkönig, Co-Founder and Technical Director of Mezza—Maiso. "A space must work technically, emotionally, and sensorially. It should feel effortless, but that effortlessness is the result of structure, detail, material understanding, and a clear design attitude."

Looking ahead, Mezza—Maiso plans to expand its work across luxury residences, boutique hotels, curated retreats, and branded residential developments while continuing to grow its Mezza—Maiso Collectibles collection of limited-edition furniture, objects, artwork, and curated design pieces. The studio's long-term vision is to establish Mezza—Maiso as a holistic interior brand rooted in European design culture, quiet luxury, technical excellence, and enduring spatial value.

As the boundaries between private living, hospitality, and branded residential experiences continue to evolve, Mezza—Maiso remains focused on creating interiors defined by coherence, craftsmanship, material depth, and lasting emotional relevance.
