Launch of LINK, the next generation of THIN: Clinityx’s first European Health Data Warehouse, approved by the French Data Protection Authority for 10 years
Real-world primary care data from 7 European countries, based on a common data model, linked to the SNDS for France, providing a comprehensive view of the patient care pathway
Boulogne-Billancourt (France), October 8, 2026 – Clinityx, GERS SAS’ real-world data and real-world evidence division, announces that the French Data Protection Authority, i.e., the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL) has authorized the implementation of LINK, the first European Health Data Warehouse, for a period of ten years (deliberation No. 2026-070 of July 2, 2026).
This authorization covers research, studies and evaluations of public interest such as the real-world evaluation of health products, their use, and associated benefits and risks; disease management; patient care pathways; health economic and resource utilization studies; and the monitoring of vaccination campaigns and epidemic crises. With this new authorization, Clinityx strengthens its position as a leading player in real-world health data, bringing to nine the number of Health Data Warehouses (EDS) authorized by the CNIL as data controller, joint controller, or processing operator.
Closing the gap in reliable primary care data in Europe
Many treatments are initiated or monitored in primary care settings: screening, prevention, vaccinations, epidemics, and acute or chronic diseases. Yet primary care has long remained the least documented segment of European health data: claims databases capture healthcare services, procedures, and hospital stays, but do not capture the clinical context of consultations, such as reasons for seeking care, diagnoses made in office-based care, clinical outcomes, or the context in which prescriptions are made.
LINK, Longitudinal Integrated NetworK - Powered by THIN, addresses this gap. This Health Data Warehouse (HDW) brings together real-world data from the practice management software of office based general practitioners and private specialists, pseudonymized at the source and structured according to a common data model, paving the way for observational research at European scale.
LINK: The next generation of THIN
LINK represents the next generation of the THIN - The Health Improvement Network – longitudinal database network, which has contributed to more than 2,150 international scientific publications.
LINK will be rolled out progressively in the seven countries historically covered by THIN: France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, and Romania, within the framework defined by the European Health Data Space (EHDS). The CNIL's authorization covers patients treated by medical practices in these countries, enabling the creation of multi-country cohorts.
In France: linkage with France’s National Health Data System (SNDS)
In France, LINK will link THIN primary care data to the SNDS, which includes national reimbursement and hospitalization data provided by France’s National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM) covering 14 years of history (plus the current year). This linkage will provide a comprehensive view of the patient pathway, from primary care consultations to hospital care. For research teams, the clinical context of treatment initiation will finally be documented in primary care, along with the patient's subsequent trajectory: dispensations, hospitalizations, that is a complete reconstruction of the care pathway.
“With LINK, health authorities, researchers, and research centers now have access to harmonized data across seven European countries and a complete view of the care pathway in France thanks to the linkage with the SNDS. The ten-year authorization gives them a lasting framework to pursue long-term real-world research,” says Nicolas Glatt, CEO of Clinityx.
A rigorous framework and a sovereign, transparent infrastructure
LINK addresses public health and therapeutic innovation challenges while strictly upholding ethical and regulatory commitments.
Its CNIL authorization comes with structural transparency commitments that are an integral part of Clinityx's value proposition, including patient information at various levels, a transparency portal, and an annual report submitted to the CNIL.
LINK is hosted in France on the sovereign cloud, cegedim.cloud, owned by the Cegedim Group, ensuring full control over the infrastructure, digital autonomy, and enhanced sovereignty. cegedim.cloud is also HDS-certified (Health Data Hosting), ISO 27001, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, and ISO 20000-1 certified, and SecNumCloud-qualified, ensuring an optimal level of security and strict compliance with current standards and regulations.
