ENGIE fast-tracks the rollout of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Europe and scales up operations in Belgium

• ENGIE, through its ENGIE Vianeo brand, is set to roll out nearly 3,000 charging points in Wallonia, thereby becoming one of Belgium’s leading operators of public electric vehicle charging stations.
• With a target of 25,000 charging points across Europe by 2030, ENGIE continues to expand its presence in the electric mobility market.

ENGIE, through its electric mobility brand ENGIE Vianeo, has reached a new milestone in the development of its European charging network. Having secured the contract from the Brussels-Capital Region in March, ENGIE Vianeo has now been selected by the Walloon authorities to install 2,926 charging points, thereby establishing itself as a benchmark player in electric vehicle charging in Belgium. This latest success confirms ENGIE Vianeo’s growth dynamic in Europe and strengthens its position as a benchmark player in public charging infrastructure.

Leader in electric mobility in Belgium

Over the next two years, the plan is to install 2,926 charging points with a power of 22 kW (1,625 stations) across the Walloon Region, located in town centres, village squares, sports facilities and other public areas. ENGIE Vianeo will operate the network for 10 years. Eventually, 242 municipalities – almost the entire region – will be covered.

With this new contract in Belgium, together with the Brussels-Capital Region contract (1,640 charging points – 835 stations), ENGIE Vianeo is consolidating its position as the Belgian market leader in electric mobility, with a target of 12,000 charging points by 2028. Already established in Brussels and Flanders, ENGIE Vianeo now operates the country’s most extensive charging network, with nearly 7,000 charging points (3,500 stations).

25,000 charging points across Europe by 2030

ENGIE aims to become one of the top five public electric vehicle charging operators in Europe by 2030. The Group is aiming for 25,000 charging points across Europe, including 1,000 for HGVs.

ENGIE Vianeo has a solid network of nearly 11,000 charging points in operation in France and Belgium and currently being rolled out in Germany, as well as a pioneering position in electric charging for HGVs.
