No. 1 for ESG and Sustainability Communications

Kirchhoff Consult GmbH and Team Farner rank first in the 2026 PR-Journal Pfeffer Ranking 

Hamburg, 7 July 2026 - As part of Team Farner Germany, Kirchhoff Consult GmbH has secured first place in the categories ESG and sustainability communications as well as corporate publishing/content marketing in the latest PR-Journal Pfeffer Ranking 2026. This leading position underscores Kirchhoff’s strong market standing in one of the company’s core business areas: ESG/Sustainability. 

Together with its partner agencies komm.passion and GFD Finanzkommunikation, Kirchhoff achieved not only the top positions but also additional top-three placements in the categories of healthcare, medicine and pharmaceuticals; banking, insurance and financial services; non-profit organisations, foundations and associations; and, across all sectors, owned media. 

Team Farner Germany also achieved top-10 rankings in the areas of expertise change and transformation, internal and employee communication, crisis communication and earned media, as well as in the logistics and wholesale, retail and e-commerce sectors. In the overall ranking, the alliance successfully defended its 11th place from the previous year. 

The German PR market is under pressure: according to the latest Pfeffer Ranking, fee revenue at comparable agencies declined by 3.8 per cent in 2025. Growth is evident primarily in those segments where communication is particularly complex, highly regulated and of direct relevance to the capital markets. 

“For me, this confirms a trend we have been observing among our clients for some time: the key question is who can interpret regulations, who understands investors and stakeholders, and who can align communication with the executive board’s business priorities. Sustainability is more than a matter of compliance or marketing communications; it is a strategic issue,” says Vincent Furnari, Managing Partner at Kirchhoff Consult. 

The PR-Journal Pfeffer Ranking is Germany’s largest ranking of PR agencies based on fee revenue and headcount and is considered one of the most important benchmarks in the communications industry.
