NAEGELI Deposition & Trial Remodels Portland Office for In-Person Depositions

Portland, OR, USA, July 24th, 2026, FinanceWire

As many court reporting firms shrink their physical footprint and shift fully online, NAEGELI Deposition & Trial has gone the other direction. The company recently completed a remodel of its Portland headquarters, a project built specifically to support in-person depositions and the attorneys, deponents, and legal teams who attend them. The work spanned more than a year and touched nearly every section of the 20th floor the firm occupies in the U.S. Bancorp Tower.

The renovation reflects a deliberate choice. While remote proceedings have become standard across the industry, NAEGELI continues to host face-to-face testimony at its downtown Portland office, and the redesigned space was planned around how those days actually run.

A Yearlong Redesign of the 20th Floor

The project moved through multiple phases across different areas of the floor. It starts the moment someone steps off the elevator. The lobby now features Italian marble flooring, faux alligator-textured elevator doors, chandeliers, recessed lighting, and a custom gold sign, setting a professional tone before a visitor reaches reception.

The firm also completed a full buildout of its Scheduling department, which handles intake for the entire operation and is often a client's first point of contact. The new layout gives the team more separation for private calls and a more organized workflow. Embossed wallpaper lines both the Scheduling office and the kitchen attached to it.

The Marketing department received a new entrance lobby of its own, complete with another chandelier and executive desks for client-facing staff. Versace wallpaper with embedded glass beads runs throughout that office. New paintings, pottery, and other decor were placed across the floor as part of a broader effort to make each space more welcoming.

Why Is NAEGELI Investing in In-Person Depositions?

Much of the litigation support field has moved toward remote-only service. NAEGELI has taken a different position. The firm offers remote and digital options, and its team worked with videoconferencing tools well before remote assignments became common, but it has kept in-person proceedings central to how it serves clients.

The reasoning is straightforward. Many attorneys and litigants still prefer to be in the same room for testimony, especially in high-stakes or complex matters. Keeping a fully staffed physical headquarters gives clients that choice. Proceedings are hosted regularly at the Portland location, and the remodel was designed to make the setting as functional and comfortable as possible.

“Our clients trust us with some of their most important legal proceedings, and the space they walk into should reflect that,” said Sarah Coleman, Chief of Staff at NAEGELI Deposition & Trial. “Every detail of the expansion was thoughtfully designed so our clients feel welcomed, comfortable, and exceptionally well cared for from the moment they arrive.”

What the Space Offers Visiting Attorneys and Deponents

For legal professionals traveling to Portland, the office is meant to function as a working environment, not just a meeting spot. A quieter, more private Scheduling area helps clients coordinate sensitive cases. The kitchen and added amenities ease the strain of a long day of testimony. Upgraded lobbies and new decor round out an experience designed to feel considered from arrival to departure.

Location adds to the appeal. NAEGELI’s headquarters sits in the U.S. Bancorp Tower, a short walk from the Pioneer Courthouse in the center of downtown. The firm has occupied space in the tower for more than three decades and is among its longest-tenured tenants.

A Portland Headquarters With Decades of History

NAEGELI Deposition & Trial was founded in 1980 by Marsha J. Naegeli, who started the company from a home office with a $2,000 loan. More than forty-five years later, the firm provides court reporting, legal videography, transcription, interpreting, document management, and trial presentation services to legal professionals across all fifty states.

Its national headquarters remains in Portland, where the completed remodel signals a plan to keep serving clients in person for years to come. Attorneys and legal teams can arrange face-to-face testimony through the firm’s Portland court reporting office, with remote options available for those who prefer them.
