Restructuring and AI Are Rewriting Promotion Rules, Says ResilExec® Coach Brian Baldari

BRICK, N.J., USA, October 1st, 2026, FinanceWire

Career advice has never been more accessible. From podcasts and books to online courses, professionals have no shortage of information about leadership and career growth. Yet according to Brian Baldari, founder of ResilExec Coaching, information alone rarely produces advancement.

Baldari, a Brick, New Jersey executive coach, spent 24 years inside pharmaceutical, healthcare, and enterprise leadership organizations. He held five successive Director-level roles, moved from Director to Vice President and Senior General Manager in 18 months, and has led the commercial launch of 14 brands. He believes lasting growth comes from coaching built around an individual's specific obstacles, goals, and organizational environment rather than one-size-fits-all advice.

"Most professionals do not struggle because they lack information," Baldari says. "They struggle because they need a strategy that fits their situation. Every organization has its own rules for who advances and when, and those rules are not in the book."

That need has sharpened as organizations restructure and adopt AI. Reporting lines consolidate, roles above a leader are absorbed or redefined, and the criteria for advancement shift faster than most leaders can read them.

"When the structure changes, the promotion rules change with it, and nobody announces the new ones," Baldari says. "Generic advice was written for a stable organization. The leaders who keep advancing through restructuring and AI adoption are the ones with a strategy built for the organization they are actually in."

Baldari works with Associate Directors, Directors, Senior Directors, Executive Directors, and Vice Presidents inside pharmaceutical, healthcare, and enterprise IT organizations. Through ResilExec Coaching, he applies his Promotion Math framework to identify the barrier holding a timeline, then builds strategies aligned to both organizational objectives and personal goals.

"Performance gets you noticed. Positioning gets you promoted," Baldari says. "Effective coaching starts by understanding where someone is today, and by naming the one variable actually holding the timeline."

Personalized coaching also creates accountability. Articles and online resources introduce concepts. Coaching provides the feedback that helps professionals apply them in real meetings with real stakeholders.

"Knowledge without execution produces very little change," he says.

Another advantage is objective perspective. Professionals can measure their own output. What they often cannot see is how that output is described in the calibration and succession conversations they do not attend.

"We all have strengths," Baldari says. "The challenge is that we also have blind spots. Coaching provides an outside perspective that helps leaders grow faster and make better decisions."

Baldari emphasizes that coaching is not only for struggling professionals. Many of the highest performers seek it because they recognize the importance of continuous development.

"The best leaders are not looking for reassurance," he explains. "They are looking for the variable they cannot see, because at a certain level effort is the entry fee and not the differentiator."

Organizations increasingly value leaders who can operate at enterprise level, influence across functions, and carry accountability beyond their own team. Baldari believes personalized coaching strengthens each of these capabilities.

"A promotion is the outcome, not the strategy," he says. "The work is becoming the kind of leader organizations consistently trust with greater responsibility, and making sure that is the sentence being used about you when you are not in the room."
