SourceX Outlines Commercial Terms for Its AI Data Licensing Program

Los Angeles, California, USA, November 5th, 2026, FinanceWire

A defined dataset and a per-deal confirmation: here is how licensing business data for AI actually turns into cash.

SourceX is publishing the commercial mechanics behind its data licensing program, giving owners, boards, and investors in established companies a clear view of how licensing business data for AI training becomes cash: what is sold, how it is priced, and when the money lands.

The short version: a company licenses a defined dataset, not the business itself. Originals stay with the supplier. SourceX receives rights over a prepared, de-identified copy, which can include exclusive AI-training rights for a term set in the deal and lasting rights over that prepared dataset.

"Owners should see the whole deal before they commit to any part of it," said Noah Loul, founder and CEO of SourceX. "What's in scope, what rights they grant, what they're paid and when. Clear terms make for faster decisions, and they're how this market earns the trust of the companies it depends on."

Pricing Happens Dataset by Dataset

Compensation is usually a one-time fee per agreed dataset. Some agreements provide for recurring deliveries (for illustration, a company that keeps generating support conversations and agrees to supply new batches over time). Each deal has its own Dataset Deal Confirmation fixing the exact dataset, the net payout, and the terms, all under one Master Supplier Licensing Agreement signed after qualification.

The Timeline to Payment

Nothing is delivered until both agreements are signed and SourceX gives the go-ahead. Once data is delivered, SourceX reviews it for up to 30 days and may accept it sooner. At Closing, the supplier receives a Closing Notice, then invoices SourceX. Standard payment is within 60 calendar days of a valid invoice unless the signed terms differ.

Diligence a Board Can Read

Every dataset comes with a diligence packet documenting its source, rights, preparation, and permitted use. Before signing, a rights review checks whether the supplier owns the records and can license them, including limits in customer and vendor contracts. Data is de-identified through approved processing routes before it is used or shared, and because no method is perfect, the agreement records that re-identification may still be possible.

A company can walk away at any point before it signs, at no cost. The first step is a fit check with a few quick questions, no uploads and no commitment, and owners can start it at SourceX.
