Taiwan Leads 12 Startups to IFA Berlin 2026, Sealing Multiple Taiwan-Europe Deals

BERLIN, Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Taiwan Startup Terrace made its debut at IFA Berlin 2026 (September 4–8) with a national pavilion of 12 Taiwanese startups, and left the show with a string of partnership agreements signed with European companies. Spanning artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and smart health, the delegation came to Berlin to show its technology and connect with European buyers, distributors and investors. Over the week, the pavilion drew more than 3,000 visitors and produced eight signed cooperation agreements.

Organized by Taiwan Startup Terrace — the government-backed startup hub run under Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs — the group covered three areas: artificial intelligence (Next Integral, Synstream, Deeli AI, Aiplux, VMFi, Alpenglow Tek and Optiqb), cybersecurity (Turing Space, Janus Cyber and DeCloak) and smart healthcare (FREE Bionics and Precise Bigdata). IFA, now more than a century old, remains one of the world's leading stages for consumer electronics and a magnet for corporates, investors and press.

Several companies struck deals on the ground. VMFi, whose TransDisplay counters deliver low-latency, multilingual real-time translation for government offices, transport hubs and reception desks, signed distribution and reseller agreements with Germany's Ryke GmbH and Estonia's TrueTouch AI OÜ — and, over the course of the show, a total of five MoUs with partners from several countries — to move its products into European markets. Turing Space, a digital-identity firm whose verifiable-credential technology meets the EU's eIDAS 2.0 standard and is already used by the World Health Organization and more than 600 institutions worldwide, signed a three-way MoU with Germany's PolyCrypt and Neuland AI to expand across Europe's digital-trust market. DeCloak, focused on AI de-identification and image privacy, signed an MoU with Polish robot-platform maker MAB Robotics to pair robots and robot-dog platforms with its smart-inspection technology. These MoUs were signed at the pavilion opening on September 4 and witnessed in person by Ambassador Gu Rui-Sheng, Representative of the Taipei Representative Office in Germany. Enterprise-cybersecurity startup Janus Cyber added a further cross-border agreement during the show.

Taiwan's teams also stood out in competition. Of the 93 startups that entered this year's IFA Pitch Battle, seven from the delegation reached the semifinals, and VMFi advanced to the final — the only Taiwanese team to do so, a striking result for a debut on the IFA stage.

Germany was more than a trade-show stop. The delegation visited Berlin Partner, Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI), industrial giant Siemens and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). To move Taiwan-Germany cooperation from exchange visits to "two-way landing," Taiwan Startup Terrace hosted Taiwan Roadshow Night at CIC Berlin (Venture Café Berlin) on September 10 and signed an MoU with the campus, creating a long-term framework for reciprocal soft-landing, shared space and resource matchmaking. The evening paired startup pitches with an overview of Taiwan's ecosystem and a Taiwan-Germany R&D funding program open to European founders.

For Taiwan Startup Terrace, the week was part of a longer push to build a lasting presence in Europe rather than a one-off visit. The organization says it will keep using trade shows, matchmaking, overseas bases and cross-border partnerships to help Taiwanese startups establish themselves in Germany and expand across the region.
